In working with clients I have found that it is very common that they do not keep their browser software up-to-date. What is a browser you ask? A browser is the software application you use to access the internet. This is different from a search engine. You use the browser to access the search engine as well as any other website online.
This may not sound like it is a big deal, but it really is.
As web designers we are forced to continually up date many of the applications we use. This is because internet technology moves quickly. With that said, you as the client are also using the internet… which is moving quickly. But yet you choose to stay 4 steps behind by not updating your browser software.
Here is what happens…
We build you a beautiful user friendly website for your business. We use current website technology and It functions perfectly. We ask you to review the completed site and you are unable to view many of the functions. As far as your concerned the site looks unprofessional and broken. You are viewing the site in Internet Explorer version 7 or maybe earlier. This browser first arrived on the scene in 2006. That is 6 years ago! A lifetime in internet technology time. This is why you cannot see the site correctly.
Internet technology is not usually backwards compatible.
That means that you cannot take advantage of new functions contained on any of the sites you are viewing, not just yours. We have an obligation to keep up on this fast moving technology if we plan to use it to it's fullest extent. Please find a list of browsers below with links to download each new version.
