What is a favicon?
A favicon (short for favorites icon), is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Also commonly known as a website icon or page icon, a favicon is displayed in browsers such as Explorer, Firefox and Safari that support favicon usage.
Most companies will use their logo as their favicon to help with brand recognition.
Each browser displays a favicon slightly differently. They may be displayed in A) your browser's URL bar or B) next to the site's name in your lists of bookmarks (see examples below).
